Yippee Ki Yay! My Visit to Austin Texas.

It’s been a while since I last posted but with good reason; I’ve been visiting the great state of Texas!  My husband and I went to Austin, Texas to visit our good friend Steph who moved there from Boston a year ago.  I had no idea what to expect and in my mind I had thoughts of southern twangs, pick-up trucks, and cowboy boots.  When I actually got to Austin, I found that not many people had southern accents and I think I saw more SmartCars than pick-up trucks, so needless to say the Texas stereotype in my mind was quickly squashed (except for the cowboy boots which you’ll see later in my post).  I would describe Austin as a young, hipster, techie-type city, full of eccletic energy, bars as far as you can see, and a plethera of crazy food trucks.  It was definitely a cool place to visit and if you’re into the bar scene and live music you must put Austin on your bucket list.

One of the highlights of our trip was a visit to Allen Boots for some good ol’ cowboy boots.  I have never seen so many boots in my life!  My husband Jeff was very tempted to buy a new leather jacket but he managed to resist, however, we did not walk out empty-handed!  Both of us bought brand new cowboy boots and were very excited to rock our new Texas souvenirs when we got back to Boston.

Our last stop while in Texas was a treat!  Eating real genuine Texas barbeque.  In Driftwood, about 20 miles from Austin, we had the pleasure of having dinner at the Salt Lick.  Set on a beautiful ranch, this open-pit BBQ restaurant did not disappoint.   I not only enjoyed eating there but also had fun snapping a few pictures before dinner.

Thank you Steph for being a wonderful host and sharing Austin with us last week!  We’ll definitely be back soon!

  • […] To go along with their small guest list, Anica and Steve kept their wedding details simple. While the venue didn’t need added decor, it is nice to see bits of Anica and Steve’s personality in their wedding details. Soft pastels in Anica’s bouquet, a pink wedding cake (with a cute Dia De Los Muertos topper), and teal vintage luggage are really elegant details. The bride herself is stunning in a champagne lace wedding dress, bird fascinator, and good ol’ cowboy boots. Yes, she’s from Texas! […]ReplyCancel
