It’s been a while since I last posted on my blog. Actually it’s been a really long time according to social media standards and to be honest using an old school printing press might have been faster at the pace I’m going! A few weeks ago I visited a print museum in Boston’s famous North End which is the inspiration for this post.
Back in the days of Paul Revere, the printing press was used to spread the news. Molds for every single letter of every word would be put into place to form words and sentences. After spreading ink over the molded letters, a piece of paper would be “pressed” over the letters and voila! you have a printed page much like the top picture.
The entire process to print 1 page could take one entire day and up to 2 weeks for 1 newspaper! Needless to say, I was feeling guilty after learning this since it’s been a couple months since I last posted on my blog. I have to say, learning about the printing press has given me a greater appreciation of how we as a society communicate and share news.
I really enjoyed my day in the North End but now back to business!!
Stay tuned for upcoming wedding and engagement posts! Here’s a little sneak peek 🙂
