Holding Hands on Valentine’s Day

When some people think about Valentine’s day they might think of cupid, hearts, or a kiss from that special someone, but for me when I think of my Valentine on this day, I think about holding his hand for the rest of my life. So for today’s post I want to share a reading from my own wedding , the Hand Ceremony, accompanied by a few of my favorite photographs.

Look at the hands of your best friend that you hold on your wedding day. As you promise to love each other for all the days of your life, your hands are young, strong and full of passion for each other. These are the hands that will passionately love and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe tears of joy and sorrow from your eyes. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will help you hold your family together as one. These are the hands that will wear your rings. Lastly these are the hands that even when wrinkled from age will be reaching for yours at the time of your last parting.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
